Alleged Sale Of Gas Turbine Is Fraudulent And Provocative – Monarch
2 min readThe traditional ruler of Emeyal clan in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State, Nigeria His Majesty, King N. D. Amakura has described as fraudulent and provocative the alleged clandestine sale of the Kolo Creek Gas Turbine at Imiringi in the Ogbia local government area, which gives electricity to the area and some parts of the state.
The monarch who raised the alarm in a statement on Wednesday, September 9 said that some unnamed buyers of the gas turbine were about to surreptitiously take possession of the facility and move it to another location outside Imiringi.
The statement which was also signed by Chiefs Iwolisi Jephthah and Mr Egbo Masi, described the selling of the gas turbine as an attempt to underdevelop and alienate Ogbia Kingdom from Bayelsa State and the good things of life.
They said, “For eight years, the facility was grounded and the entire Ogbia Kingdom kept in darkness and no effort was made to re-activate the gas turbine only for it to be sold.
“We will resist any attempt by any individual, group of persons or organisation to remove the gas turbine from its present location at Imiringi.”
They called on the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to beam their searchlights into the alleged criminal sale of the gas turbine and bring those involved to book.
